Trump Says He Has 'Low Expectations' For Summit With Putin

President Trump has set "low expectations" for his meeting with Vladimir Putin.

President Trump says he has "low expectations" for his highly anticipated July 16 meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.
"I go in with low expectations. I'm not going with high expectations," Trump told "CBS Evening News" anchor Jeff Glor. "I can't tell you what's going to happen, but I can tell you what I'll be asking for and we'll see if something comes up."
He added that he "believes in meetings."
"I believe that having a meeting with Chairman Kim [Jong-un of North Korea] was a good thing. I think having meetings with the president of China was a very good thing," Trump stated. "So having meetings with Russia, China, North Korea, I believe in it. Nothing bad is going to come out of it and maybe some good will come out."
In the wake of indictments announced on Friday against 12 Russians for charges related to the 2016 election hacking, many Democrats have called on Trump to cancel his Putin summit.
"These indictments are further proof of what everyone but the president seems to understand: President Putin is an adversary who interfered in our elections to help President Trump win," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement, urging Trump to cancel the summit "until Russia takes demonstrable and transparent steps to prove that they won't interfere in future elections."
Trump responded to the indictments by blaming the Obama administration.
"These Russian individuals did their work during the Obama years," he wrote in a tweet on Saturday. "Why didn't Obama do something about it? Because he thought Crooked Hillary Clinton would win, that's why. Had nothing to do with the Trump Administration, but Fake News doesn't want to report the truth, as usual!"
