According to BuzzFeed News, 12 Russian intelligence officers were indicted by a grand jury for a hacking scheme targeting the 2016 US election.
The defendants are all military officers, and members of Russia's GRU intelligence service.
The indictment accuses them of conspiring to hack into computer networks in order to steal documents, which they could disseminate to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.
