Bare-chested man paddles canoe along swelling river

A Chinese man paddled a canoe along a river when Typhoon Maria made landfall in southeastern China's Fuzhou City on Wednesday (July 11). The video shows a shirtless man paddling in a river in driving rain as police chased after him to try to bring him back to safety. In the clip, police can be heard shouting at the man: "Go back to the shore quick!" However, the man says: ''I'm a member of winter swimming team.'' The police respond: ''Even if you are a winter swimmer, it is not allowed. Come here.'' Although the man waves his hand to refuse, he was finally taken to the police station and given a dressing-down from cops, local media said.
