Seoul and Washington will hold more talks on defense costs sharing next week.
South Korea's chief negotiator Chang Won-sam will sit down with his American counterpart, Timothy Betts, for the fifth session of the 10th Special Measures Agreement in Seattle next Wednesday and Thursday.
They'll discuss how to share the costs of maintaining U.S. troops on the peninsula, even when the combined military drills have been suspended for now.
The two sides are running out of time to reach an agreement, as the existing SMA deal is scheduled to expire at the end of the year.
Seoul has shared the financial burden of the U.S. Forces Korea since 1991.
