Row erupts over HDK's 'English in schools' plans; protests rage on over Biocon Chief's tweet
  • 6 years ago
Biocon Chief Kiran Shaw Majumdar and Karnataka Development authority locked horns on twitter over HD Kumaraswamy government's proposal to introduce English medium classes in 1,000 primary schools. Karnataka development authority chairman SG Siddaramaiah had led a delegation to HDK to express his discontent over the decision. Responding to this, Kiran slammed the Kannada outfit on twitter calling them 'attention seekers' and claiming that they don't care about education. She received a huge backlash over these comments as academicians and activists took to the streets. In no time, Kiran was on the defensive and she tweeted again clarifying that whatever she said, she said for the students and the importance of education.
