'Clear evidence of humanitarian need' in North Korea: UN aid chief
  • 6 years ago
The UN's top official on humanitarian issues says he sees "clear evidence of humanitarian need" in North Korea.
Mark Lowcock, who is the UN's Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator,... expressed his concerns on Wednesday in a Twitter video posted from Pyongyang.
Lowcock says about a fifth of North Korean children suffer from malnutrition and more than half of the kids in rural areas lack clean water.
Lowcock's trip to the North is the first by an emergency relief coordinator since 2011.
