Unranked in high school, Zhaire Smith grows into one-and-done

Rookie wing Zhaire Smith was selected with the No. 16 overall pick in the NBA Draft after one year at Texas Tech. All the more impressive, considering he was unranked in high school. Smith didn't get his first high-major offer until midway through his senior year. He showcased his athleticism and improved perimeter game at Texas Tech, and averaged 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. Smith began hearing he was a first-round talent late in the season. He declared for the NBA Draft, and is now at Summer League.
