Learn 4 different ways to hide apps on your Android device with our video tutorial. We'll walk you through the easiest ways to keep apps private so your friends and family won't be able to see which apps you keep on your home screen.
Method 1: Disable Apps Within Android Settings
Access your Android settings. Scroll down and select the Apps category. Look through the list and find apps you would like to hide from your home screen. Tap the name of an app. Then tap the Disable button to hide it. When you return to your home screen, you’ll see that the app is gone.
Method 2: Use Nova Launcher
Open the Google Play store. Download and install Nova Launcher. Once you’ve installed it, open your settings. Then go to Nova Settings. Next, tap App & Widget Drawers. Under the Drawer Groups category, tap Hide Apps. Tap the box beside each of the apps you would like to hide from your home screen.
Method 3: Hide Apps in Home Screen Folders
Find two or more apps that you’d like to add to a folder. Drag one of the app icons on top of another one to make them into a folder. If there are more apps you want to include, drag them over to the folder to add them. Rearrange the apps within the folder to hide them.
Method 4: Lock Your Device with a Passcode
Open your Android device’s settings. Then, scroll down and tap Security. Next, select Screen Security. Now you can choose the type of passcode lock you want to use. You can choose a Pattern, PIN, or Password. Type in the code you want to use, then save the changes you’ve made to your settings.
To easily find a hidden app, swipe your finger downwards from the top of your screen. Tap the search bar, and type in the name of the app you want to find. Tap an app in the search results to launch it.
