To fulfill his father's dying wish, Dalong Zhou traveled to Vietnam in 2003 to meet his future wife, Lan Tri Tran, for the first time. Lan agreed to the marriage because she thought her marriage would become as wonderful as her cousin's. Little did she know what misfortunes lay ahead of her. Upon arriving in Taiwan, she realized she could not communicate with her mother-in-law, because she suffered from a mental disease. To avoid confronting her mother-in-law, Lan and her son moved out and rented a home. They did not move back until the mother-in-law passed away. Dalong also inherits the mental problem from his mother, so he has been unemployed for a long time. To survive in this city, Lan has to work and also began studying Chinese.
