A special ocean business corporation is launched here in the nation.
All part of President Moon Jae-in's 5 year plan to provide much needed boost to the flagging maritime industry.
Kim Mok-yeon gets us better acquainted with the Korea Ocean Business Corporation.

The Korea Ocean Business Corporation was officially launched on Thursday... with the aim of systematically reviving the nation's ailing maritime industry.
Forming the agency was proposed by the Moon Jae-in administration nearly a year ago,... and it was included in a five-year plan released in April by the Oceans Ministry to rebuild the industry by helping shipbuilders win more orders.
After a ceremony Thursday morning to launch it, the agency got straight to work on possible guarantees for companies investing in the nation's shipbuilders.
The head of the agency, Hwang Ho-seon, said the Korea Ocean Business Corporation will work to become Asia's main hub for experts to share information on the shipping industry, and to make Korea one of the world's top 5 powers in terms of shipbuilding.
To accomplish those goals, the corporation will be in charge of providing guarantees when the nation's shipbuilders buy shipping terminals; also, helping manage ship orders, and replacing Koreas merchant fleets with eco-friendly ships.
South Korea's maritime industry was once part of the backbone of the country's economic growth, but in recent years it's been shrinking.
Since 2016, the "Big Three" shipyards,... Daewoo, Hyundai and Samsung Heavy... have all had to undergo sweeping self-rescue programs.
