Study: Treating Back Pain With Anticonvulsants Is A Really Bad Idea

Australian researchers say anticonvulsant drugs described for treating back pain are not only ineffective, they can also be harmful. Anticonvulsant medications have been prescribed to treat seizures, bipolar and borderline personality disorders, and neuropathic pain. But according to UPI, certain anti-seizure medications known as gabapentinoids, when prescribed for back pain relief, are accompanied by increased side effects such as drowsiness or dizziness.
