Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d. city” has stood the test of time and remains a fan favorite over five years after its release. The song is produced by Sounwave and T.H.C, and features the Compton rapper delving headfirst into the violent, chaotic environment he grew up in. It serves as one of the album’s two title tracks, along with “Good Kid,” and stands for both “my angry adolescence divided” and “my angels on angel dust,” both of which harken back to K-Dot’s own childhood. ScHoolboy Q and MC Eiht also lend a hand, and their combined performance helped the song achieve double-Platinum certification and reach No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
