France, Uruguay advance to World Cup quarterfinals
  • 6 years ago
Argentina is out of the World Cup,... and France is moving on to the quarterfinals.
Four-to-three.
It was one of the most thrilling games so far at this year's tournament in Russia.
France scored first after a penalty drawn by Kylian Mbappe, who would become the star of the match.
Argentina struck back and took the lead 2-1 in the second half,... but ultimately it was a week Argentina let through three more goals, two of them from Mbappe.
France moves on to the round of eight where they'll face Uruguay.
Lionel Messi's World Cup dreams are over and so are those of Christiano Ronaldo and Portugal.
They were knocked out Saturday night by Uruguay 2-to-1.
An amazing play by Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez put Uruguay on the board early.
A cross to Suarez and then a long cross back to Cavani, and a header.
Portugal got an equalizer in the second half, but then Cavani put it away for Uruguay.
Tonight in the knockout phase it'll be Spain versus Russia, the hosts, and Croatia versus Denmark.
