Colorado Wildfire Burns Structures as it Spreads into Huerfano County

Structures were destroyed as the Spring Fire grew from Costilla County to Huerfano County in Colorado on June 29, according to officials who expected the blaze to intensify due to unfavorable weather conditions.This video shows a timelapse of the Spring Fire as it began to burn in Huerfano County on Wednesday, June 28.The Spring Fire blaze stood at almost 24,000 acres by Thursday morning, with no containment, officials reported. The blaze was 4,000 acres on June 28.The fire started in Costilla County on June 27 and immediately prompted almost 400 evacuations in Forbes Park, Colorado, according to local news reports. Evacuations were ordered for Forbes Park and Wagon Creek Estates in Costilla County, and Tres Valles subdivision in Huerfano County.Firefighters said during a news conference on June 28 that they will be “chasing” the wildfire instead of battling it due to weather conditions.
