The Boston Celtics experienced a mixture of hard-luck and incompetent management during the initial post-Larry Bird playing days, and although the losing and inconsistency largely continued up until banner No. 17 was raised in June of 2008, it’s hard to fathom where this Celtics franchise would be without the services of No. 34 Paul Pierce.
The Celtics will retire Pierce’s jersey on Sunday, Feb. 11 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, cementing the soon to be hall of fame player's Celtics career.
