Mexican grandmother graduates from middle school at 78

A family organised a party for their 78-year-old grandmother to celebrate her graduation from middle school.
The footage, captured at a home in California on June 18, shows the 78-year-old woman wearing a black gown and an academic cap as she sits surrounded by all her relatives in the family garage.
A relative reads the woman’s diploma and tells her to move the cap’s tassel to the left.
The elder woman then flips the tassel and throws the cap into the air as the whole room erupts with joy.
The filmer later wrote online: ‘’After getting married at 16, my grandma was too poor to get an education.
‘’After my grandpa passed, she decided to go back to school and at 78 yrs old she has officially graduated from middle school in Mexico.
‘’We had a graduation ceremony in our garage, complete with changing of the tassel, and the throwing of the cap.
‘’She is an inspiration to all of her grandchildren.’’
