In the run-up to the US Presidential election in 2016, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon caused controversy for a giving Republican nominee Trump a softball interview, which included ruffling his hair. Buzzfeed reports that many people commented on Twitter that he was normalizing Trump's extreme political views. The event cast a shadow for Fallon. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter Fallon says, "I'm sorry if I made anybody mad. And looking back I would have done it differently."
