Kim Jong-pil... a former prime minister of South Korea who passed on Saturday, will be posthumously awarded the nation's highest order of civil merit.
Seoul's top Office announced today... the Minister of the Interior and Safety, Kim Boo-kyum, will present the Mugunghwa medal to the late ex-PM's family.
According to the Cheongwadae spokesperson, President Moon instructed the minister to properly express condolences to Kim's bereaved family,... as the liberal leader will not be visiting the funeral parlor personally.
A heated debate continues over whether the former prime minister deserves the Mugunghwa order... due to his role in orchestrating the military coup that brought then Major General Park Chung-hee to power in the early 1960s.
According to the top office, all deceased former PMs have been recognition either posthumously or when still living.
