S. Korean companies plan to hire 314,000 people from April to September

South Korean firms plan to recruit some 3-hundred-14-thousand employees in the second and third quarters of this year.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor the number of employees that companies plan to recruit is up by 2-point-1-percent, or 6-thousand people, compared to the previous year.
In this Q1, firms recruited 7-hundred-44-thousand new employees, down 1-point-7 percent from the same period in 2017.
The ministry also said there were 8-hundred-34-thousand job seekers in the first quarter of this year, a drop of nearly 2-percent from the previous year, but the labor shortage rate remained unchanged from the same period last year at 2-point-4 percent.
