Erdogan Faces Major Test In Snap Election

According to a report by Reuters, Turks voted in presidential and parliamentary elections on Sunday, which pose the biggest ballot box challenge to Tayyip Erdogan since he swept to power over a decade and a half ago. The vote will also usher in a powerful new executive presidency long sought by Erdogan and supported by a narrow majority of Turks in a 2017 referendum. Reuters reports that critics fear it will further erode democracy in the NATO member state and cement one-man rule.
