'The Jerry Springer Show' Canceled After 27 Seasons After 4,000 episodes over three decades, The Jerry Springer Show is finally ending. NBC Universal quietly made the decision to cancel the daytime talk show that has aired since 1991. Producers from the show told AP that “there is a possibility” of more originals from Springer in the future. The chair-throwing mayhem won’t disappear completely as several networks have bought syndication rights to air reruns. Springer, the 74-year-old former Cincinnati mayor, began the show to cover important political issues but in order to increase ratings, covered controversial and salacious topics.
