Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of State Sales Tax For E-Commerce
  • 6 years ago
The Supreme Court reversed a previous precedent regarding e-commerce and state sales tax.
According to Broadcasting and Cable, the court overturned the 'physical presence rule' in the Commerce Clause, allowing states to collect sales taxes even if a business does not have a physical location in that state.
Previously, states required businesses to operate a physical location before they could collect in-state sale taxes.
