A Massive controversy has erupted over Mehbooba's proposal to grant land to Jamiat Ahle Hadees. BJP, a member of Jammu and Kashmir's ruling alliance with PDP has opposed proposal to grant land. Recently, the JAH's state secretary general approached Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti with a representation requesting allotment of land for Eidgah on permanent basis. According to reports, Mufti wrote a letter to the divisional commissioner's office for allotment of 6.25 acres of land to the organisation. BJP has alleged that the JAH was spreading Wahhabi or fundamentalist Islam, adding that the recent killings in Kashmir were a manifestation of this ideology.
