Trump Posts Smiling Photos With Merkel And Other G-7 Leaders To Prove He Has 'Great Relationships'

President Trump again slammed the news media over his relationship with Angela Merkel.

Amid an escalating feud over trade tariffs, President Trump faced significant criticism last week over his apparently deteriorating relationships with many of the G-7 leaders.
And a viral photo from the G-7 summit added fuel to that perception.
As Quartz notes, in the image, "Merkel stares coldly, both hands braced on a table, at a defiant US president Donald Trump, who is seated with his arms crossed. Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, French president Emmanuel Macron, and British prime minister Theresa May can also be seen standing in the photo."
In the wake of the reaction to that image, President Trump took to Twitter on Friday and posted his own selection of photos showing him and others smiling as he interacted with the leaders at the G-7 summit.
"I have a great relationship with Angela Merkel of Germany, but the Fake News Media only shows the bad photos (implying anger) of negotiating an agreement - where I am asking for things that no other American President would ask for!" Trump wrote in one of the tweets.
In another tweet, he stated, "the Fake News Media said that I did not get along with other Leaders at the #G7Summit in Canada. They are once again, WRONG!"
Merkel's remarks after the G-7 summit, however, contrast with those of Trump's.
According to CNN, she called the decision by "Trump and the US delegation to abstain from the G7 summit's statement 'sobering and somewhat depressing.'"
