A curious kiwi investigated a man on Stewart Island, New Zealand, coming close enough to give the "intruder"’s boot a little poke with its nose before scurrying away, as seen in this video taken in May.Nathan Moore was on a hunting trip in South Tikotatahi when he was fortunate enough to encounter a female kiwi in broad daylight. Administrators of the Stewart Island Kiwi Facebook page said Moore displayed “perfect kiwi watching etiquette” by standing quietly while the bird foraged for snacks.A Rakiura National Park representative said hunters helped protect kiwis on the island by eliminating predators, Stuff reported.The video had been viewed nearly 270,000 times on Facebook at time of writing. “It’s actually amazing how much joy it’s brought to so many people,” Moore said.
