Apple to Slow Production of Upcoming iPhone Models In a report from Nikkei, Apple told its suppliers to manufacture fewer of its upcoming iPhone models, with 20 percent less to be produced. The decision comes after the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X shipped only 52.2 million units in the first three months of 2018, with 53 million being the target. Three new iPhones are slated for a fall 2018 release, With all models reportedly set to feature the iPhone X’s Face ID technology. The pricier of the models will have OLED displays, while the budget iPhones will stick to standard the standard LCD. Last year, Apple prepared suppliers to sell 100 million iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X models, but this fall only 80 million units will be prepared for shipment.
