This augmented reality game will let you live out a horror movie IRL. This horror game responds to your fear. Aptly named, ‘Night Terrors,’ it’s an augmented reality app designed for smartphones. So instead of catching Pokemon…monsters chase you in your own home. Bryce Katz, CEO of Novum Analytics puts it this way: “We just wanted to create something where you put your headphones in and you wander around, and your instincts kind of interact with the system. Your imagination takes over. We augment your imagination.” The creators claim the app can map the layout of your home, creating personalized scares and events with that info. Using a two-part system, they build a pedometer to measure steps and have a room detection system that is based on the user’s movement. The game can also manipulate your phone, sending you eerie photos and text messages. It can also analyze your heartbeat with wearables and will push the intensity the more hesitant you become. Night Terrors is now free to download, and claims to bring classic horror feels to your phone.
