Giant panda wanders into Chinese village

A giant panda was spotted wandering around a village in southern China's Sichuan Province.

The video, captured in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture on May 31, shows a panda walking into the fields in front of houses and a bamboo forest.

Villagers called the forest department to report the animal and then followed the panda to protect it.

Employees from the China Panda Protection and Research Centre took the animal back to their institute.

The panda in question is called Zhen Zhen and was born in San Diego Zoo in 2007, according to reports. It was taken back to China in 2010.

Since the village is part of the Wolong and Caopo Nature Reserves (near the local panda protect and research centre), Zhen Zhen may have been previously released.
