The National Disaster Management Agency is appealing to property owners to safeguard their homes best as possible in light of the recent spate of fires and ahead of the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.

With investigations into recent fires underway, three of which occurred in one area, Darbeau, the general public has been speculating what could cause the series of incidents.

That was Disaster Management Co-Ordinator, Superintendent Sylvan McIntyre, speaking to MTV’s Sorana Mitchell.

It has long been thought that the Mt Rush area where the three house fires occurred last week has higher than usual levels of Sulphur in the ground, making the area prone to wildfires.
