Starting from a humble background Robinson battled segregation through the hurtles of his life. He did this through sports and even the army. After playing for a negro league team, he caught the attention of Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, who planned to get a black man into the MLB. This was successfully accomplished through the hard work of both of these men. On April 15, 1947 the sports world would never be the same as Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier.\r
