Should You Buy The Cheapest Fruits & Veggies?
So its all about trying to find the cheapest fruit you can so you can buy as much as possible? Big cities like Los Angeles and New York have wholesale produce markets, while most ever town has stores like Costco where fruits and veggies can be found for very low prices, stretching your food budget. \r
\r
Then theres farmers markets, which typically carry fruit and vegetables that are locally grown and cost a little bit more. The farmers market produce is of a much higher quality: its more fresh and has been left to ripen much longer than the low priced fruit from the wholesale markets which has typically been shipped from another country. \r
\r
And the difference in taste is usually quite noticeable too. The fresh, ripe, locally grown food has been grown by higher quality farming standards, which results in superior flavor and taste. Just try comparing the taste of a supermarket bought tomato with one grown at home; the difference is night and day.\r
\r
So which should you buy? The lower quality but cheap fruit? Or is it worth it to buy the higher quality food? Remember, you are what you eat. Choose accordingly!\r
