DC's Geoff Johns Teases Setting of 'Wonder Woman 2' The DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer updated his Twitter header with an image that reads “WW84.” The image suggests that the sequel will take place in 1984. The first film, which grossed a worldwide total of $821 million, was set in 1917 during World War I. Director Patty Jenkins helmed the film, which went on to become the top-grossing film of all time for a female director. Newcomers to the sequel include Kristen Wiig as the villain Cheetah and ‘Narcos’ actor Pedro Pascal. Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the titular heroine. ‘Wonder Woman 2’ will hit theaters on Nov. 1, 2019.
