Germany trained on Thursday (9th June) at their base in Evian-les-Bains without Mats Hummels as they finalised their preparations for their opening Euro 2016 group game against Ukraine on Sunday (12th June).

World champions Germany trained at their base in Evian-les-Bains on Thursday (9th June) as they stepped up their preparations for their opening Euro 2016 match.

The Germans will face Ukraine on Sunday (12th June) at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Joachim Loew's side remain without central defender Mats Hummels who faces a race against time to be fit for the second group game against Poland on Thursday (16th June).

Loew was dealt a severe blow in training on Tuesday (7th June) when defender Antonio Rudiger tore his cruciate knee ligaments, ruling him out of the tournament.

He was expected to replace Hummels in defence but Loew has now been forced to call-up Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

Tah is set to fly out to France but isn't expected to feature against Ukraine when Germany will look to set a marker as they bid to add the European Championship to their World Cup success.
