Swans work together to break through frozen lake
  • 5 years ago
This extraordinary footage shows a line of seven swans forcing their through a frozen lake – by organising themselves into a moving battering ram. The graceful birds were captured on film as temperatures plummeted to -2C on Sunday (22/1) afternoon. Retired engineer Jim Mitchell, 68, videoed the seven swans freeing themselves from Bradgate Park, Leicester. He said: “The male swan, the cob, was forcing itself through the ice and the others were lining up behind him to swim through. “When the sawn got tired the others behind appeared to push him onwards. The temperatures suddenly dropped over a few hours so the swans had been effectively trapped.
