Britain's oldest poppy seller, Olive Cooke, committed suicide aged 92

Olive's body was discovered in the Avon Gorge on Wednesday, May 6 by police and fire rescue teams. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
The grandson of tragic poppy seller Olive Cooke has hit out at the charities which were trying to "milk" her - while friends call for a change in the law. Treasured Olive, 92, fell to her death after being driven to despair by endless calls from charity 'chuggers' and relentless aid 'appeal' junk mail. But she "lost faith in people" two months ago when £250 in cash she sent to a relative went missing in the post. She was overwhelmed by the constant phone calls and up to 260 begging letters a month from charities pestering her for cash.
