The flora and fauna of a forest used to compose music
  • 5 years ago
Thanks to Living Symphonies for this video. Two musicians have created a unique live performance - using the flora and fauna of a forest to compose the music. James Bulley (corr) and Daniel Jones began by making a detailed ecological survey of a specific area of woodland measuring 600 sq metres and 25m high. Within that they identified around 80 different species which are were given their own individual set of 'musical motifs' portraying their behaviour. The motifs are played by 50 musicians using over 120 instruments and a spider for example may be a series of piano notes while a butterfly could be a soaring cello
