50cc moped rider tries to outrun police helicopter - at 15 mph

Moped driver James Phillips may have thought he was in a scene from the French Connection but his chance of outrunning the police on a 50cc machine was zero. Bristol Crown Court heard how the 22 year old from Bristol had panicked when he saw police while riding his Piaggio without insurance. He was chased down by four police cars and the force helicopter while hitting the heady top speed of 15 miles per hour. The roofer was given a suspended jail term for his troubles.
