Youth killed for association with the BJP; body sent for post mortem, investigations on

Days after political violence marred the Panchayat polls in West Bengal – a dalit youth belonging to the BJP has been found hanging from a tree near his house in Purulia district in West Bengal. Scribbled on the back of the youth’s t-shirt was a chilling message – the reason why he was killed – his association with the BJP. A note found near his body said that he was killed for being involved in politics from the age of 18. The BJP now alleges that it was a political murder and the BJP President Amit Shah has even tweeted on the matter saying that he was killed by ‘state sponsored goons’. A large number of BJP workers took protest rallies across the state to protest the killing. The body has been sent for post mortem and investigations are currently on.
