Jamie Foxx Will Become 'Spawn' in Upcoming Film The ‘Beat Shazam’ host has been officially confirmed as the antihero for the upcoming Blumhouse film. According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter,’ Todd McFarlane will direct the low-budget feature after adapting the comic book into a film in 1997. ‘Spawn’ follows a murdered black-ops agent’s descent into hell, where he makes a deal with a demon to return to the world. Foxx’s last role portraying a comic book character was as Electro in the 2014 film ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ The action-horror film will have an R-rating and is slated for a 2019 release.
