A Yemeni man was arrested on October 22, 2013 for burning his 15-year-old daughter to death for contacting her fiancé before their wedding. The crime reportedly took place in the remote village of Shabaa in Taiz province in Yemen. The father committed the crime after finding out the girl had been chatting with her fiancé on the telephone. According to Reuters, "traditional tribal customs in parts of Yemen prohibit contacts between men and women before marriage. — Reuters
