According to a report by Reuters, three members of the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad were killed by Israeli tank shelling in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, after weeks of violent border protests. Islamic Jihad, which operates with a measure of independence from Hamas, has controlled Gaza since 2007 and fought three wars against Israel. Hostilities have soared since Palestinian mass-demonstrations began at the border on March 30th.
