Abandoned Pekingese hides sth worse than ticks under his matted hair

Ccombo has fully recovered and is adopted! here is his full story: \r
Save a Greek Stray was notified about an abandoned and matted Pekingese wandering the streets of a suburb in Athens, Greece. Dehydrated, hungry and probably sick with mange and who know what else, Combo arrived at the shelter and was kept in solitary. He was sprayed for parasites, he was shaved and was given a bath. Under that pile of dirty matted hair, apart from dozens of ticks that were draining him, we discovered something much worse. On the back of his neck, two stitches were proof of his microchip removed a long time ago, probably by a vet. According to the Greek law, removing a microchip results to a big fine and the vets license removed, but unfortunately there is no way of finding out who the vet is. In Greece dogs are abandoned as we speak, even purebreds, like Combo. The economic crisis has made things much worse. Animal welfare charities have been trying to rescue as many as possible, but most owners dont even neuter their pets, and every day we keep finding card boxes of unwanted puppies everywhere. Adoption is the only solution. For more info please con: info@saveagreekstray.com\r
