North Korea's vice-foreign minister warned the regime could pull out of the planned summit... that their decision depends on how Washington behaves.
This comes as President Trump continues to make comments throwing doubt on whether the event will take place.
Kwon Jang-ho gets us up to speed with the developments.
North Korean state media carried a statement Thursday by the regime's vice foreign minister, Choe Son-hui, warning the U.S. that the summit scheduled for June 12th in Singapore could be called off if Washington does not change its behavior.
Specifically taking aim at U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence for his comments earlier this week referencing the so-called "Libya model" of denuclearization, Choe called them "ignorant and stupid remarks" that could end in a "nuclear-to-nuclear showdown" rather than a meeting room.
She also said the regime will not beg to hold dialogue with the U.S.

However, Choe said in conclusion, "In case the U.S. offends against our goodwill and clings to unlawful and outrageous acts, (she) will suggest to the supreme leadership to reconsider the North Korea-U.S. summit." This comment suggests that for now Kim Jong-un is still looking to go ahead with the meeting with the U.S. President

Trump himself also continued to express uncertainty on Wednesday over whether the North Korea summit would go ahead, but said cryptically that it will be decided next week.

"Some day a date will happen. It could very well be June 12. Some day a date will absolutely happen. It could very well be June 12. We'll see. We'll know next week."

This could be because Washington is reportedly preparing to hold working-level talks with Pyongyang in Singapore this weekend.
According to the Washington Post on Tuesday, U.S. officials are travelling to the city-state to meet with their North Korean counterparts and discuss the details of the summit.
But the report also claims that officials from Pyongyang failed to turn up for a similar meeting in Singapore two weeks ago.
Whether they will turn up this time remains to be seen.
