Anti-Sterlite protest: Madras HC stays work at the unit after violent protests

A man was killed and few others were injured in a fresh police firing on anti-Sterlite plant agitators in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorn. This comes a day after ten people were killed in a police firing in the town. Locals have been agitating for over 100 days demanding the closure of Vedanta Group’s Sterlite plant over pollution. Madras High court on Wednesday stayed the expansion of Sterlite’s copper smelting plant. Opposition parties have slammed the government and criticised the use of force against the protesters
