Hillary Clinton seemed to take aim at President Trump Friday, telling the audience at the DNC Women's Leadership Forum, "We stand for truth, for evidence and facts. What an incredible thing!"
"We have kind of an affection for evidence. We think it should inform our policies, because they'll actually work better," she also noted.
Trump's honesty has been questioned numerous times in the past. In fact, the Washington Post reported earlier this month that, during his first 466 days in office, he has made "3,001 false or misleading claims, according to The Fact Checker's database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president."
The challenges Trump has faced in regard to the truth were alluded to by former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a commencement speech given at the Virginia Military Institute on Wednesday. Tillerson's very light veiled comments on the matter included the statement, "If our leaders seek to conceal the truth or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom." Regardless of Trump's reported drawbacks, the Democrats appear to be facing their own problem of struggling to define a platform and purpose that will resonate with voters.
Clinton addressed this by saying, "We may have taken a little detour a year ago, but we're back on the path of demonstrating unequivocally that our future is in diversity and inclusivity."
