Petrol prices across the country have reached a record high of Rs 76.24 per litre in the national capital, the petrol and diesel prices have increase by 17 paise a litre and 21 paise per litre respectively. According to a few reports, petrol and diesel prices were not raised for about three weeks before Karnataka elections. Therefore the Oil Marketing Companies saw the need to raise petrol prices and diesel rates across states.
