According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Deadpool 2' grossed $53.3 million at the domestic box office on Friday, setting a new opening day record for R-rated films. The figure eclipses the previous record set by horror movie IT, which took in $50 million in its opening day last September. Early tracking estimates pegged 'Deadpool 2' to open in the neighborhood of $100 million. More recently, those estimates were adjusted upward to as high as $150 million.
