On May 16, Karnataka's governor invited BJP to form the next government and asked BS Yeddyurappa to be the new Chief Minister.

The Siddaramaiah-led Congress and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda’s JD(S) met the Governor after the polls.

HD Kumaraswamy, JD(S) and Congress' Chief Ministerial candidate accused the BJP of trying to lure MLAs to boost its numbers. However, BJP rejected these charges.

Yeddyurappa was elected Chief Minister back in 2008, but resigned in 2012 after he was indicted for alleged corruption. Now, Yeddyurappa will be sworn in on May 17, making Karnataka BJP'S only government in Southern India.
