Storm Brings Intense Rain, Possible Tornado to West Connecticut

Ryan Grossi was driving home from work when his dash camera captured a torrential downpour brought to Southbury, Connecticut, by a damaging storm that possibly generated a tornado in the area on the evening of Tuesday, May 15.A meteorologist with NBC Connecticut said radar images showed that a tornado had touched down in the area of Southbury and Oxford, though the National Weather Service (NWS) had not yet confirmed a tornado by early afternoon Wednesday. The NWS said teams were assessing damage in several areas, including Southbury.The town of Southbury said on Wednesday that the town was “in recovery mode,” with many roads were blocked by trees and downed wires.Electricity supplier Eversource was working to restore power across several areas.
