Tony Schwartz, the co-author of President Trump's book 'The Art of the Deal,' recently explained why a White House apology for aide Kelly Sadler's comment about Senator John McCain isn't likely coming.  "[Trump] either directly or indirectly made it clear that he didn't want Sadler to apologize because it would reflect on him," Schwartz told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Tuesday. Schwartz agreed with Cooper's assessment that apologies suggested weakness and noted that, in Trump's view of the world, "If you apologize, you are wrong."  The comment in question was in reference to McCain's opposition to Gina Haspel, who has been nominated to become the director of the CIA. Sadler reportedly said the views of the senator, who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, are irrelevant as he is, "dying anyway," reports the Washington Post. The White House has not denied reports about the comment, but rather stressed that it was made during an "internal meeting," and placed much of its focus on it having been leaked to the press.  In the wake of Sadler's reported remarks, President Trump tweeted on Monday, "The so-called leaks coming out of the White House are a massive over exaggeration put out by the Fake News Media in order to make us look as bad as possible."
"With that being said, leakers are traitors and cowards, and we will find out who they are!" the president further noted.
